The Dolphins: ‘Phins Up This Off-Season

(AP Photo/John Bazemore)

The Dolphins finished the 2012 season with a 7-9 win/loss record. Yet, the Dolphins could be a team on the cusp of turning things around! Entering free agency, the Dolphins had roughly $40-plus million in salary cap space. But, the Dolphins had seven starters that were free agents on March 12th including, among others, RB Reggie Bush, LT Jake Long, WR Brian Hartline, and DB Sean Smith. Like 2011, the Dolphins defense had its moments where it looked like one of the better defenses in the league, especially their rush defense. The Dolphins defense was also top-ten in least points allowed at 19.8 per game. The offense, on the other hand Continue reading

Going The Distance: Round 1 of the NFL Draft

The first round of the draft is always the most unpredictable. One week ago, no one would have believed the Dolphins would trade down to the third pick to draft a defensive end as opposed to the best offensive tackle on the board. No one would have believed that DJ Hayden would have been the first defensive back drafted. No one would have believed Continue reading

This year’s draft will likely be the most unpredictable in history. One thing appears certain though. A large number of offensive linemen will be drafted. It is expected that four offensive tackles will be drafted within the first seven picks in the draft. One quarter of the picks will be spent on offensive linemen, tackles and guards. This could be a record! In terms of quarterbacks, at least one quarterback, maybe Continue reading

Each personality drafted for one AFC team and one NFC team. The Fantasy Greek drafted for both the Dolphins and Bears. With eleven draft picks, one thing is clear Continue reading

On The Ball! Pre-Draft Free Agent Tracker (Offense)

If you thought the number of quality free agents on defense was thin, it’s even thinner on the offensive side of the ball. Many teams should be set with free agent on offense until after the NF draft which is just days away. Also when the clock struck midnight on Friday, April 19th, restricted free agents like wide receiver Victor Cruz and running back Chris Ivory could no longer negotiate with other teams. Put another way, Continue reading

With just under a week before the NFL draft, this is one last opportunity to look at the defensive signings to date. At this point, teams are making a few last minute signings to fortify rosters, before the draft, so teams can focus on the players they truly want to draft to fill their team’s greatest need.
