Comments: The wide receiver position in fantasy football could be in flux in 2011. (See previous rankings.)  There are just so many talents at the position and so many players that broke through in 2010 such as Brandon Lloyd, Steve Johnson, Mike Williams (Bucs), and Mike Wallace, not to mention Malcolm Floyd, Dez Bryant, Kenny Britt, Austin Collie, Mike Williams (Seahawks), and Mark Clayton. It is difficult at times to decide who is the better wide receiver given their team’s situation. While Andre Johnson will be ranked by many as No. 1, The Fantasy Greek still thinks Roddy White is as solid as they come. White continues to be phenomenal since emerging as a top-target in the Falcons’ pass attack in the 2007 season. In 2011, White finished with his fourth straight 1,100+ yard season and second season in a row with at least 10 TDs. While his TDs could fall off just a bit, White has emerged as arguably the best wide receiver in fantasy, especially in points-per-reception leagues. Last season, White was pretty much match-up proof. While Andre Johnson has been touted as the best fantasy wide receiver, you can make an argument that White should be taken first among the wide-outs in fantasy drafts. Close behind Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Hakeem Nicks, and Mike Wallace. With the Cardinals getting Kolb in free agency, Larry Fitzgerlad should re-emerge as one of the top-five wideouts in fantasy. Also, with Vincent Jackson singing his franchise tender, and Antonio Gates possibly still a little banged up, he should also reemerge as a top-ten talent as should Miles Austin with the return of Tony Romo. Dez Bryant and Anquan Boldin are poised to have what could be incredible seasons. And, with Kyle Orton appearing to be the QB to be under center for the Broncos this season, consider Brandon Lloyd a top WR prospect again, and Eddie Royal a solid No. 3 wide-out.

Since free agency began, Chad Ochocinco’s stock has sky-rocketed by being traded to the Patriots in The Fantasy Greek’s estimation. Plaxico Burress is now a Jet and should see some action even with Santonio Holmes on the field. Likewise, Mike Sims-Walker could see his star shine once again in what should be a pass happy offense for the Rams. Even Roy Williams could thrive for the Bears in an offense he is very much familiar with even though this estimation is very much guarded. Given the recent, incredible pronouncement by the Bears demoting Johnny Knox in the offense his stock has obviously fallen. With the re-signing of James Jones, it’s difficult to imagine Jordy Nelson having the same value that he had before the Jones re-signing.

Fantasy owners should pay particular attention to the receiving situation for the Saints. Apparently, Marques Colston’s knee is still bothering him. This could provide much opportunity for Robert Meachum and Lance Moore.

A third-year wide-out to watch is Michael Crabtree. While Crabtree generally did no favors for his owners in 2010, and is expected to miss the next four to six weeks due to a foot injury, Crabtree is entering his third-year season as a professional wide receiver, a year where most wide receivers seem to “get it” and excel on the field. Kenny Britt is ranked lower than he should be but with all the off-the-field issues he has experienced, a league issued suspension would not be a surprise. Should Britt avoid suspension, he should be ranked between 15 and 20.
